I have had these “flowers” for 17 years now. When Will was about 3 he like to pick me flowers. He didn’t have to look very far. In our big field some kind of wild flower grows all summer. Most of us would call them weeds, but a child sees the simple beauty of a weed.
We own a little over 7 acres, so we don’t cut all of it with the lawn mower. We let most of it grow and about twice a summer we bush-hog the field. Some years it gets bailed and sold as hay for cows. These “flowers” are really some of the grass that had come to seed. Will couldn’t find any wildflowers so he picked me these instead. I just love them. I will never throw them away! They are one of my favorite simple pleasures.
